Psychological Safety and an Antifragile Culture: This is akin to designing an entire community (or organisation) as an ecosystem where fire drills are regularly conducted, residents are trained in first aid, and buildings are constructed with earthquake-resistant structures. Minor tremors and disasters (everyday setbacks) not only fail to destroy it but actually enable it to continually refine its contingency plans and enhance its skills, ultimately endowing it with remarkable resilience and the ability to recover in the face of major disasters.
The understanding and application of the Inoculation Effect began with the exploration of the scientific mechanisms behind ‘individual attitudinal defences’ (McGuire); subsequently, its core principles were transferred to the practice of ‘team risk prevention’ (rehearsing failure); then developed into a key tactic on the battlefield of ‘organisational reputation defence’ (the ‘defusing the bomb’ strategy); and finally evolved into the underlying cultural philosophy for building ‘systemic organisational resilience’ (psychological safety and anti-fragility). This represents a process of intellectual evolution—from ‘micro-psychology’ to ‘meso-practice’, then to ‘macro-strategy’, and finally integrated into the ‘cultural DNA’—characterised by continuous expansion, deepening and strategic refinement.
